Aircraft manufacturing: The return of Boeing
The US aviation giant has won back trust after a near-decade strewn with disasters. Now it needs to make money again
At Boeing's aeroplane assembly plant in the city of Everett, just north of Seattle, a pair of giant doors open and a 44 metre-long fuselage covered in green primer is slowly wheeled into the facility.
The Everett plant, the largest building on Earth by volume, once produced the four-engined 747 jumbo jet that redefined long-haul air travel from the 1970s onwards.
